With each new year, I find it impossible to not think about new beginnings. Beginnings in life can be so many things. They can be relationships, plans, self care schedules, jobs, kids, houses, a fresh way of thinking, exercise and more. I welcome the quiet calm of the new year. While so many animals hibernate, I think that humans have this same urge to stay in and look inward during the winter months. Preparing for spring, regrowth, new growth, new energy.
This is a chance to reset. Maybe you have gotten off track with caring for yourself, pursuing a passion or investing in a relationship. The truth is that we can start something new anytime we set our minds to it, but there is something about following the lead of the seasons that makes this feel like a natural place to try again or try for the first time. Imagine yourself as a tree, rooted in the ground and strong with tall branches and thick bark. Every spring new life comes forth in the form of tender buds reaching even higher.
Take this opportunity to think about what you could do in the new year to make sure you are living your very best life. Your very best life is an ever changing target. Take a look around and make sure you are still on the right path. Make sure you are positioned to soak up the energy and warmth of the spring sun. Maybe shed the old and make room for new fresh parts of you, parts of your life. If you need help with this, embrace and accept that help. You deserve to do so much more than just get by in life. Do what it takes to thrive in the new year and for years to come.
